Arthroscopy: before the operation

Arrange for going home

Arthroscopic surgery is considered a 'day only' procedure. The definition of 'day only' usually means that you come into hospital a couple of hours before your operation and go home a couple of hours after the operation has been completed. Because the anaesthetic and pain medication may make you sleepy, arrange ahead of time to have someone drive you home.

Preoperative checklist

  • Ensure you have your x-rays
  • Complete admission form
  • Complete consent form
  • Make an appointment to see Dr Kerr, Anaesthetist 1 week prior to surgery
  • Make an appointment to see Rebecca Cordingley 1 week after surgery for follow up care
  • Make an appointment to see Dr Kohan 2 weeks after surgery for follow up care
